Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool passes directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Van Zandt County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so that we can answer it. We keep the message within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details whenever a visitor loads a page:
- The date and time of each page request
- The pages viewed and the length of those visits
- Your browser type and version
- The referring site, when one is available
- Your device category and operating system
- The Internet Protocol address used by the device

This site uses cookies, which are small files saved on a visitor's device. They help measure traffic patterns, such as popular pages and the points where visits end. No Criminal-Record Data on File
Van Zandt County Criminal History neither maintains nor sells a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records kept by the Sheriff's Office, court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or criminal-history files about other people. Texas Government Code Sections 411.083 and 411.135 govern the confidentiality and authorized public release of DPS criminal-history information; that state repository data is not held here.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate this site's search boxes. Information submitted to a partner is controlled by that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Each partner determines how long it keeps data and when it shares that data. Review those terms before entering a query because we cannot set or change them.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff's page, court portal, Texas agency, legal-aid resource, or outside search service. Once a visitor follows one, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking technology.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure use and site performance
- Outside search companies that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the site
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect the data we receive. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live and whether an exemption applies, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, Texas Business & Commerce Code Chapter 541, may provide rights concerning personal data. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs requests to Texas government bodies and does not turn this private site into a county records custodian. Applicable rights may include the ability to:
- Confirm whether personal data is being processed and obtain access to it
- Request deletion of qualifying personal data
- Correct an inaccuracy in qualifying personal data
- Opt out of processing covered by the statute, when that right applies
